Curbside Parking In the District of Columbia

Managing curbside parking is one of DC's more challenging responsibilities. Thousands of commuters and tourists swell the ranks of the District’s driving population every day. Additionally, countless trucks and vans of all sizes traverse the city daily, delivering supplies, goods and services to government, businesses and residents.

To ensure that motorists have short-term parking options, particularly in high-traffic areas, the city offers an extensive system of metered parking spaces. Motorists may also take advantage of two-hour free parking in residential-permit parking (RPP) areas when visiting the city.
