Behind the Scenes with Fleet Management

DPW's Fleet Management Administration (FMA) gets DPW employees where they need to go - day in and
day out - by procuring and maintaining the thousands of vehicles and mobile equipment units needed to
sweep streets, tow abandoned cars, enforce sanitation and parking laws, clean off graffiti, plow snow, pick up
leaves and collect trash. In addition to meeting DPW's fleet needs, FMA secures and services vehicles for over
30 other agencies. Additionally, FMA operates five state-of-the-art municipal fuel sites, including the District's
first 24/7 computerized station offering gasoline, E-85 (an ethanol blend), diesel and natural gas fuels, as well
as oil and other fluids.
